EARTH FORMS
STEENGOED KLEI
This sculptural work is inspired by natural formations and the slow, layered processes that shape the earth over time. Its organic structure emerges through repetition and movement, echoing growth, erosion, and transformation.
Hand-built in clay, the piece balances control and spontaneity. The surface is developed using complex, layered glazes that interact unpredictably during firing, creating depth, variation, and subtle tonal shifts. These glazes enhance the tactile quality of the work and give it a rich, almost geological presence.
The interplay between structure and fluidity is central. While the form suggests stability, the flowing surface introduces movement and change. Each angle reveals a new relationship between volume, texture, and light, inviting the viewer to explore the piece from multiple perspectives.
